Looking at the painting above, it might be hard to judge the artist’s actual age. Amazingly, the artist, Isabella Rose Taylor, is only eleven. In addition to calling Austin her home, Taylor has accumulated many titles; artist, fashion designer, and poet. She even has her own blog and fashion line for tweens, IsabellaRose Fashion. Her posts include sourcing fabric in NYC, her process of painting abstract, and what she calls “just fooling around,” depicted below.
Both her poetry and artwork attest to her skill, eye for beauty, and an understanding of the world seldom found in one so young. Taylor first began painting at age three and continues to explore her aesthetic through oils.
You will be able to catch a glimpse into Taylor’s world during her exhibition, Color Stories, which takes place at the 02 Gallery on 2830 East Martin Luther King Drive. The collection celebrates her artistry and her panache for color. The exhibit goes on from July 7 to July 12 with an opening reception July 7 from 5:30 to 8 pm.
“As ideas tumble around in my head, I look for an outlet,” says Taylor about her own work.
Taylor currently lives in Austin with her mom, dad, and her dog, Star. She has already received numerous awards for her poetry, art, and fashion.
We wish you the best, Isabella, and can’t wait to see what’s next!
