Savor delectable tastes from all over the world at Lovexotic, a fundraising benefit for Family by Choice, an organization that offers adoption services to diverse families, from traditional to singles and GLBT families.
On April 9, the upstairs of Clay Pit will be transformed into three distinct lounges to transport guests to Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The culinary experience will be presented by local “tastemakers” Bill Norris of Haddingtons, David Alan and Lara Dixon of Tipsy Texan, and Mirjana “Mindy” Kucan of Anvil and accompanied by music from DJ John Gomi and John Pointer. The evening will also include dance interludes and art installations.

Event chair, FRANK restaurant co-owner Daniel Northcutt, promises that it will be an event full of “nothing but love, great friends, family, and amazing food and drinks.” Northcutt originally volunteered to help friends Richard Williams and Crisin “Moxy” Castro, both of whom have been personally affected by adoption, with food for the event. After learning more about Family by Choice, he started to realize what an amazing organization he was supporting.
“The entire organization is founded on helping connect the dots for individuals and families willing to make the amazing sacrifice to adopt children who really need a loving home. Family by Choice lends support before, during, and after the adoption process, all of which are important,” said Northcutt. “Think about the value of having an experienced hand that knows the legal and emotional side of this amazing process and continues that advice and support track even after the adoption for the LGBT community. The expertise and love of this organization is invaluable.”
Lovexotic was conceived about three years ago by Williams and Castro of Luna Park Events after they found out that the woman running Family by Choice, Susan Griffith, had been doing it all on her own dime for over twenty years.
Williams, who was in the foster care system from age 9 until he was adopted at age 15, is living proof of the tremendous impact adoption into a loving home can have on a child.

“I wish that, when I was in the foster care system and in different foster homes before I ended up with my dad, I had an advocate like Susan Griffith of Family by Choice helping me to find my forever family,” said Williams. “As a child, I did not care if my parents were gay or straight. I just wanted a home where people would love me, encourage me, and respect me for who I am.”
The funds raised by the event will help Ms. Griffith continue her good work on behalf of the children in the foster care system and on behalf of loving families in Central Texas.
Lovexotic 2011 will take place on Saturday, April 9th from 8 until 11pm at Clay Pit (1601 Guadalupe Street). Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door, and the event is limited to 200 guests.
