Celebrate the passion and achievements of all artists at the 11th Annual Building Bridges Art Celebration and Auction. The primary goal of “Building Bridges” is to celebrate the passion, love and great achievements of all artists with disabilities. With more than 100 pieces of professionally framed artwork, numerous exciting auction packages and a prestigious dinner and awards ceremony, “Building Bridges” has become a highly anticipated and increasingly profitable affair.
Witness artists with disabilities demonstrate their artistic abilities at The Arc of the Capital Area’s Arc of the Arts Studio & Gallery. The Arc of the Arts program provides an artistic bridge between people with developmental disabilities and the community. In the Traber Studio, they teach art to individuals with developmental disabilities. Clients sell their exceptional art in the adjoining Cool Family Gallery, and also receive pre-employment skills training. In addition, they have museum-like souvenir items, featuring reproductions of some of our clients’ best artwork such as coffee mugs, calendars and note cards. The project offers art classes four times a week, plus a music class once a week. Then, once the clients’ best work is done, art is sold in the storefront gallery, which is open to the public. The Arc developed the studio and gallery to promote social inclusion and to increase access to non-segregated activities for youth and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as to provide an opportunity for adults with disabilities to learn job skills and to ultimately work towards making a personal income. The Studio is located at 6717 Burnet Road in Austin, Texas, and are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
The Arc of the Capital Area, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to providing personalized, community-based services that improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers. For more information, click here.
